In this video, Greg and his family and friends all come together to process firewood for Greg's dad and stepmom. Greg has been collecting logs for firewood over the last two years. These are logs that just don't cut it for the the sawmill, so they have been gathering waiting to be cut into firewood. Greg's dad rented a SC-15 DYNA Firewood Processor for the weekend, we gathered family, friends and food and all came together to process A LOT of wood! We were able to process 15 cords! 10 went to Greg's dad and stepmom and the other 5 went to the Bonner Gospel Mission. It's nice to be able to help out the community - they were also out helping, so we know it's going to a great group and cause.
Greg and the group of family and friends went to another property the next day and got a lot more wood! All in all, Greg's dad thinks he has enough wood for the the next 3 years, so definitely worth the rental!

Sometimes, weather and life determines what projects you work on. We took a pause on milling at the sawmill, so we could get power to the property before the ground freezes and winter hits. It will be SO NICE to have lights and power at the sawmill over the winter, so milling days can continue into the evening and not have to end before 4 PM! We have a few more projects and then we will be back to milling....so much milling!
Did you know we are building a barn?! If you haven't followed along with our BARN Build, make sure to check out that series in our playlists. We finished the slab this summer and are on a pause while we mill all of the lumber needed for the barn build. We have A LOT of milling in our future.
***If you haven't checked out our Sawmill Cover Build from the beginning, definitely check out our Sawmill Playlist. We have shared the process of building our sawmill cover from the very beginning. We have a Woodland Mills HM130 Max sawmill and live in North Idaho. The sawmill cover / sawmill shed is vital to continue milling in the winter months, but it will also be a great way to keep out of the sun during the summer months, and of course all of the rain, in between! We are excited to complete this project (we still need to enclose the shed part of our sawmill cover) so we can continue milling lumber for our barn build. We are building a barn using @BarnGeek plans and will be sharing more of that soon!
Here are the specs on the sawmill cover / sawmill shed we are building:
3 posts in the front
4 posts in the back
Overall dimensions are 15 feet wide by 36 feet long
Longest beam is 28 feet
Front part of the lean to roof is 11'9" and back is 8'
It will have a 3 :12 pitch
Posts and beams are going to be 7 1/2" x 7 1/2"
We have shared the entire build!
