This week we're looking at the different factors in creating implementation and maintenance plans. These in particular are relevant:
* Least effort for greatest effect - what small things can we do that would make a big difference? These often involve plugging energy or resource leaks.
* Limiting factors - which important things can only be done at certain times of year? Put those on the calendar first.
* Resource availability - when are labour or resources available? Time projects to coincide with these.
* Dependencies - what tasks need to be done before others?
A simple plan may be enough for home-scale designs. For bigger projects involving other people, more detail is usually required. Gantt charts are a useful tool for such project management.
