Today we’re digging into the Fulltone OCD, Boss Blues Driver, and the JHS Blues Breaker—I mean Morning Glory.
These three pedals are commonly accused of being… Transparent Overdrive…
*ominous thunderclap*
Few phrases generate more blind rage on gear forums than “transparent overdrive”. (Legend has it, if you say it three times while looking in a mirror you’ll be haunted by the ghosts of forum moderators past.)
But ignoring the frothing insanity of internet comments, and the inherent contradiction in the term itself—Transparent Overdrive for all practical purposes is just shorthand for an overdrive with little to no pronounced eq coloration. So, no major boost or cut to the frequency spectrum.
Which is useful if you like the sound of your amp but just want more.
That’s it. Not so scary, right?
Right? Hey… why is it suddenly foggy and I’m standing in a graveyard?
*Maniacal reverberated laugh slowly swells into a crescendo as the screen fades to black*

ABOUT G211 PEDAL SHOW
Goes to Eleven Pedal Show is mostly just a reason to hang out with friends and goof around with guitar pedals. We demo only what we want to demo, old, new, cheap, vintage, digital or analog. In order to let you hear the pedal, guitars are recorded with minimal signal processing and post effects.
