ACWA Power has secured $533 million in financing for Uzbekistan's Tashkent Riverside project, which includes a 200MW solar PV plant and Central Asia's largest 500MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). Supported by major financial institutions like EBRD and IsDB, this initiative aims to strengthen Uzbekistan's energy infrastructure and transition to renewable sources. CEO Marco Arcelli emphasized the project's alignment with Uzbekistan's low-carbon goals. Nandita Parshad, Managing Director of EBRD's Sustainable Infrastructure Group, praised the Tashkent Riverside project and noted its potential to power 170,000 households. The BESS will ensure grid stability, supporting Uzbekistan's aim to derive 40% of its electricity from renewables by 2030.
