This is a brief review and comparison of my Rock River LAR 8 chambered in 7.62 NATO (.308 Win) and the Les Baer semi-auto also chambered in the .308 Win. This is an AR 15 platform rifle commonly called an AR 10.

The Rock River LAR 8 is similar in design to the ArmaLite AR 10. The AR 10 is an ArmaLite trademark. Both rifles are AR platforms that shoot .308 winchester rounds. The 308 is an excellent cartridge.
This is also a review of a magazine article that highlighted the Les Baer for its accuracy.
It is obvious that the Les Baer is an extremely accurate weapon and high quality. The comparison made is more in reference to the cost/value of the two weapons. The Les Baer is priced at more than two time the cost of the Rock River.
The Les Baer is guaranteed to shoot 1/2 inch 10 shot groups (i/2MOA) at 100 yards. The Rock River is guaranteed to shoot 1 inch groups (1 MOA) at 100 yards.
As a prepper, I will be buying at least 3 or 4 more of the this rifle, I must be cost conscious. Does the accuracy of the higher priced gun justify its cost? Tell me what you think.
On second time out with the gun I shot cheap ammo and did OK. Then I pulled out five Federal Gold Medal Match, 168 grain Sierra Matchking Boat Tail Hollow Point rounds. I shot a 3 hole group then adjusted my sights, and fired two more rounds to hit the center of the target. When I inspected the shots, I was amazed. Both of the groups were 1/4 inch at 100 yards. The weapon more than exceeded my expectations.
I forgot to mention, the Rock River uses FAL mags and can utilize both the inch and metric sizes. I am still in the process of testing and configuring the weapon and will have a follow up video forthcoming.
Thanks for watching. God bless you. KEEP ON PREPPING
