Introduction
Happiness is a state of well-being that encompasses living a blissful life with a sense of meaning and contentment, to cultivate happiness in your mind you need to train your mind .
The mind training starts with training your attention, here you learn to turning the mind inwards and there are Four Focuses of Introspection they are observing the body through mind ,observing the feelings in the body, observing the emotions and finally observing the thoughts ..
Now let us start the Guided happiness meditation .
settle back into your comfortable sitting posture and be aware there is a body.
Opening to whatever sounds may appear, and being mindful how effortlessly these sounds are known.
Within this open framework, there is a body connect with the feeling of each breath.
Breathing is a natural process happening by itself,
Sometimes simply knowing, breathing in breathing out.
Sometimes recognizing whether the in and out breath is long or short.
Experiencing the whole body of the breath, feeling it for its entire duration.
Feeling the breath in the whole body.
Breathing in, calming, breathing out, calming, calming the breath , calming the body , Calming the mind.
notice any body sensations that may become predominant, pressure, tightness, vibration ,pulsing, heaviness, lightness.
Whenever any sensation calls your attention, that sensation then becomes the object of the meditation.
Open to the sensation, feel it and notice what happens to it as you're aware.
Notice the predominant feeling tones of experience,
the feeling tone associated with the breath, with sounds and particularly with sensations of the body.
You experience them as being pleasant as being unpleasant as being neutral.
You might make a soft mental note of these feeling tones when they're particularly predominant.
Mindfulness of mind simply recognizes whatever mind state happen to arise; without judgment without evaluation.
You can ask the question. What is the attitude in the mind right now?
be mindful of any predominant emotion that may arise. Happiness, sadness, interest, boredom, feelings of anger or ill will, feelings of love, kindness, compassion.
Mindfulness of Mind includes the recognition of all of these mind states, all of these emotions so that you are open to them, feel them, and also notice the impermanent nature, they too are arising and abiding and passing away.
pay particular attention to the arising of thought or images in the mind.
Notice when you become aware of the thought. Is it after the thought is already finished? Is it in the middle? It can be helpful at times to make a soft mental note of thinking when a thought is present.
It helps to reinforce the mindfulness of thought as an object of meditation. Not as a problem.
Notice whether there are any repetitive patterns of thought.
As The Meditation master Anurudhan Devadas said
“ I don’t have to believe on my thoughts , I am not my thoughts ,
Don't be bothered by your thoughts.
Let them come and let them go.”
Thoughts are very slippery. They slide in, may often get lost, in the content of the thought.
Become mindful that you're thinking. With repetitive patterns, notice the content. When thoughts are frequently arising, ask the investigative question, what is a thought? Look directly at its nature.
You see it's empty, insubstantial.
Notice the moment when you are awakened from being lost in a thought.
That moment of becoming mindful that you are thinking, is a powerful place of practice.
Notice what happens to the thought in the moment of becoming mindful of it? Does it continue? Does it disappear? Using awareness of the body as the anchor of your mindfulness, feel the breath, different sensations, notice the feeling tone of different experiences and be aware of thoughts and images every time they appear in the mind. Seeing into their impermanent, empty nature.
A regular practice of happiness meditation will relax your body and calm your mind .
