MULTNOMAH FALLS, OREGON.
Eternal gratitude to the courageous firefighters who saved the Multnomah Lodge from burning. I'm so glad we got to see this place in the fall of 2016 in all it's green glory, thick forests, and fresh clean scent. It was my first time into the Columbia River Gorge and I could not get enough of it. The beauty of the mountains, low hanging clouds, forests, huge trees, and the spectacular Multnomah falls all left me spellbound. I do hope my great grandchildren get to see this place in a state that I got to see it. Not only is Multnomah a gem of Oregon, but of the world.
TALLEST WATERFALL IN OREGON.
Multnomah falls is the tallest waterfall in the state of Oregon. Coming in at an impressive 620 feet (which includes both the upper and lower falls). The upper section alone plummets 542 feet making it the second tallest waterfall in the United States. The volume of water coming over the crest of the cliff is nowhere near Niagara Falls, but the long white trial of water is nonetheless mesmerizing and romantic.
Because of the mist that comes off the waterfall as it falls and as it slams into the ground makes the nearby paved trails wet and slick so make sure to watch your footing as you walk around. The trail to the famous Multnomah Falls bridge does close at dusk so make sure you are there to give you time to go to the bridge or up to the top of the waterfall with plenty of light.
I will say the paved walkways and ornate cement railings make for quite the romantic location. Especially after dusk when the lower trail lamp post lights turn on. We got to experience this almost to ourselves. If felt like a Hollywood movie set. Very cool!
WE SEE HERE TRIVIA!
-----------------------------------
During the blooper reel of this video you catch the singular word, "Multnomah" from my lovely wife, who reminded me what then name of the location was. This is one of the only times her voice made it into a video! We had recently gone to Minnetonka cave in Idaho and I kept trying to mix that name with Multnomah and could not for the life of me remember the name of the waterfall.
