Take me back there. You are in the barriers...
I could take you throughevery step of that race. It's so embedded in my brain because you are so focused on your job. Everybody is loading in,
and that's sort of the time where I would say... have a little prayer, and say, you know, look after me out there, to my sister and to my mum, to be with me and help me... help through the race and hope it goes smoothly. And, yeah, it just gave me more confidence. Then we were ready to go. The gates crashed open, and Prince walked out of the barriers.
(LAUGHS) Walked out!
His first step was like a walk out. And I was like, "Oh, we've lost the start in the Melbourne Cup. "We drew barrier one, we're not going to be able
to even use this barrier." I had to somehow get him into the position. So at this point everybody's coming across to get to the inside, so it's dangerous, but thankfully it worked out pretty well, where Prince was able to maintain
the position I wanted. From that point onwards, I just had to get him to settle as best I could. It's a two-mile race. It's a gruelling test of any horse. I was following Max Dynamite, who was following Criterion, who...in our plan,
was to stay following them until we got into the straight.
