In 2008, Jim Dunlop cloned Eddie Van Halen’s Cry Baby—actually it was a standard one that had been customized—with graphics based on Eddie’s famed yellow-striped black Charvel (commercially known as “Dunlop EVH95 CryBaby Wah”), this CryBaby had been becoming one of Eddie’s guitar sound effects on his pedal board since then. But, before that, Eddie had firstly used CryBaby on “For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge”—Van Halen’s 9th studio album—in particular on “Top of The World”. But it’s not the song or the use of wah wah on it I’m writing about herein. Amid his guitar solo performed during Van Halen 4th Formation Tour held at Charlotte Bobcats Arena, North Carolina, on Sept 27, 2007, Eddie creatively [and rarely] used CryBaby on “Eruption”. Cool!
