According to a 2021 Lending Tree survey, nearly half of renters believe they would never be able to own a home, mostly due to their inability to finance a down payment.According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the median cost of a home in the second quarter of 1972 was only $26,800, or around $189,500 in today's money. Home prices have increased 132% at that time.
