Join live the celebration of the 30th anniversary of World Press Freedom Day from the UN headquarters in New York. Under the theme, "Shaping a future of Rights: Freedom of expression as a driver for all other human rights", UNESCO is organizing a full day of activities with media partners, academia and civil society. It is an occasion to take stock of the global gains for press freedom secured by UNESCO and its partners in the past decades, as well as underline the new risks faced in the digital age.
This session is focused on Freedom of Expression Policies and counts with the participation of Samantha Power, USAID Administrator, Ignazio Cassis, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, Camilla Vallejo, Minister General Secretariat of the Government of Chile, and Anna Lührmann, Minister of State for Europe and Climate, Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
As the UN Organization responsible for defending and promoting freedom of expression, media independence and pluralism, UNESCO leads the organization of World Press Freedom Day each year.
