Mahogany body vs Alder body : does wood affect the tone ?

This video comes from a discussion on a Facebook page. Someone asked if there was a difference of tone between a guitar with alder body and a guitar with mahogany body considering that both guitars have the same bridge pup (EMG 81).

I thought I could bring the answer through this video. I've chosen the LTD M-1001FM STBLK for its alder body and the Schecter Damien Platinum 6FR for its mahogany body.
None of them has a maple top, both of them have a floating bridge, they have the same woods, pickups, configuration... I think they both come from the same south korean factory.
