1 - The initial wires are often activated by the heat of your mouth, so eating cool soft foods like ice cream will give you temporary relief from the pressure.

2 - Puffy gums are common during braces. Aside from keeping your teeth clean, you can swish with a warm salt water rinse to draw some of the swelling out of your gums.

3 - If you want to get out of braces on time (or even early) there really is no way around it - you MUST wear your rubber bands exactly as your ortho tells you. Otherwise, plan to be in braces longer than expected
