This is a very easy-to-make earthquake testing machine that can be used for student projects or just for fun. I use it in class for a student shelter project where students are required to build a portable shelter that can withstand three natural disasters: earthquake, windstorm, and rainstorm.
Materials:
- piece of wood roughly 16" x 18"
- second piece of would about 12" x 12"
- four eye hooks
- four rubber bands
- four tennis balls
- four screws
