chinese diesel water heater. First startup and test runs. the controller give an option to adjust target temp (these test set at 50°C) but this doesn't seem to do much.
The instructions say it will get to 65°C full power and then reduce the power until the water gets to 79°C where it will continue to run the water pump for 3mins but stops the burner. As you will see, this isn't the case and the switch off temp varies from test to test when running on the timer function (from 10mins to 60mins in 10minute increments).
The no timer test was the worrying bit. I wasn't running a coolant mix just water and the temperature reached the high 90'sC before I had manually switch it off to avoid damaging the unit.
All tests were done by heating 16lts of water varying from first run at 7°C to 55°C on the last runs.
If anyone has one of these eberspacher/websato copies, and can shed some light on the issue, id be very appreciative.
I'm currently in discussions with the company who supplied it so I won't name them until a resolution has been found. They do say it'll heat water to 70°C - 90°C but from a safety aspect, id have thought it would consistently cut out at 79°C?
The heater as a whole seems well built and the pump is actually made by bosch so not a cheap unit. Im hoping to run it on my citreon relay camper build as an engine pre heater/water heater run through a heat exchange unit and teed off the vans cab heater matrix system to utilise the warm coolant through the vans heaters. I also have an air heater to run for heating the living area. Once fitted I'll add a video of installation and running( all being well and it works as deacribed).
