A popular beach in Cornwall is "more dangerous than ever before" due to instability of its sand dunes, local volunteers have said. Crantock Beach, near Newquay, has already had a number of safety warnings this year.
Now the Crantock Surf Life Saving Club says it can not emphasise the dangers enough. It's issued yet another stark warning, saying there is a "sheer risk of sand fall and suffocation" to people playing in the dunes.
It comes as patrol members and the RNLI in Newquay have provided "numerous" advisories to people sliding down and digging in the dunes in the past few days alone. "We absolutely cannot emphasise enough how dangerous this is," it said in a social media post.
