Taj Mahal is a monumental mausoleum and tomb in Agra, India, built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his late wife Mumtaz Mahal. Completed in 1648, it is the most famous landmark in Agra and one of the most popular tourist attractions in India. The Taj Mahal is made up of a white marble mausoleum with an elaborately carved white marble dome, and a series of gardens and courtyards. The Taj Mahal has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
