Croatians are trying to erase swiftly the signs of war from the
towns and villages they retook from the Serbs in Western Slavonia
back in May. In just a few short months, new homes have been
taking the place of the burned-out shells and heaps of rubble that
have been a feature of the landscape for the past four years.
Piles of red bricks lie on every street in the town of Pakrac,
waiting to be used in the construction of homes.
