I have a 2004 2500 Dodge / Mercedes Sprinter Van that was loosing power going up hills. It would drop down to 20-30mph and wound't accelerate until I got on flat ground. Eventually it even starting have trouble starting.
I replaced the MAF sensor, the fuel filter, the Turbo resonator, and the Boost Pressure Sensor, all without fixing the problem.
Finally I pulled out the EGR valve (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve and found it to be covered in black carbon, and I couldn't even turn/open the valve. I cleaned it with carburetor cleaner which helped but still didn't completely fix the problem. Finally I ordered a new one (they run you about $320), replaced the old one, and now my van is running GREAT. Feels like a new van.
