Owner and Buyer's Guide to assess and prevent rust for Mercedes-Benz. Applicable to the R129 300SL, 320SL, 500SL, 600SL all years, but also very relevant for the W124.

Video shows the top 10 areas of rust formation on the R129, which is useful for current owners and prospective buyers.

Additional Information\Corrections:
- Best to hose the wheel well area with water and then let dry before applying the rust protection
- Rear wheel well plastic covers most of the wheel well, however, the front plastic covers don't cover the entire wheel well.
- In the video, I misspoke and said the the hydraulic pump needs to removed, but it's only the pump cover that needs to be removed (and it is easily removed).
- Rust prevention spray may swell\harm rubber. It's the reason why I say to keep the rust spray away from rubber bushings. For the wheel well rubber, I think there's more to gain (prevent rust vs swell rubber) by spraying and getting some of it on the rubber than not to spray.
