The first step is the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT) which about 3 million students aged around 18 years take. Then there are Field Proficiency Tests (AYT) in Turkish language and literature, social sciences, mathematics, and science. About 2 million students take this. The AYT can be quite challenging.
