A note:
Created and taught this a few weeks ago. Didn’t think I would share it like this, but I believe it’s important to put a time stamp on this moment in life
I was in a place where everything around me felt sickly unjust and unfair in this country.
When I couldn’t find the right words or ways to express... J Cole’s lyrics attached itself to what was going through my mind, and this is eventually what came vomiting out.
When there’re hundreds of ways for us to DO something, anything, it becomes overwhelming on where and how to start. Frustrating even when witnessing the slow progress within my own actions. I realized that no matter what change we seek to mold the world into, no matter how hard we try to control everything around us; If we’re spinning in chaos... it won’t amount to anything. We have to take a hard look in the mirror, become self aware, and manifest TRUE change from within oneself FIRST. It starts there. It outpours from there. I’m still learning to understand and do the work, simultaneously as I aim to make meaningful change around me. And the fight still continues. I encourage everyone still out there advocating for justice to keep on striving towards revolutionary change. It’s slowly but surely shifting the tides. We are the change we wish to see in the world.
