In an excerpt from a lengthier video ( [ Ссылка ] ), Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward discuss Gerald Ford's pardon of Richard Nixon in September 1974, a month after Nixon's resignation in disgrace as a result of the Watergate conspiracy.
Woodward explains that he interviewed Ford about the pardon some 25 years after it happened, and that Ford said he did it to spare the country of further pain over Watergate. Although he and Bernstein had been appalled by the pardon at the time it happened, they now agree that Ford "did the right thing."
Recorded at the Paramount Theater in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Friday, November 2, 2012, during the 25th annual Virginia Film Festival.
