An ankle eversion sprain is associated with damage to the deltoid ligaments in the medial side of the ankle. This type of sprain is generally caused by the ankle rotating laterally beyond its normal range of motion. This puts pressure on the deltoid ligament, causing them to either partially tear, or completely ruptured.
