Yuyuan Garden Lantern festival usually open 20 days before Chinese New Year until 20 days after CNY, total they opened for 40 days. It is free to go inside to see the lantern, but better you go inside to the bridge (where you can see the lantern festival, in the middle of Yuyuan Garden) earlier before sunside or when sky being dark. Otherwise you will end up like me, need to queue for a long time, and then I gave up to go to bridge and just see the lantern from the outside.
How to go to this Yuyuan Garden?
Take metro line 10 or 14 and get off at Yuyuan Garden Station exit 1 or 7.
