The United Nations Security Council omitted a reference to the Taliban in a statement released after the recent Kabul airport bombings. This was in stark contrast to the statement released after the extremist group captured Kabul on August 15. In the August 16 statement, the UNSC had called on the Taliban and other Afghan groups and individuals to not support terrorists operating in other countries. But in the August 27 statement, the UNSC didn't name Taliban, and instead addressed only 'Afghan groups and individuals'. The difference was pointed out by India's former permanent representative to UN, Syed Akbaruddin. India is the current President of the UNSC. Watch the full video for more.
