The lesson begins with the chord progression, and this song uses the most common chord progression ever in the easiest key of G! It's just four easy campfire chords!
If you're interested in other songs you can play with this progression including: Journey - Don't Stop Believing, John Denver - Country Roads, James Blunt - You're Beautiful, Jason Mraz - I'm Yours (and a billion others) I have a whole video dedicated to it here: [ Ссылка ]
Once we've worked out some switching tips so that we can easily transition between the shapes, making smooth accurate switches, we practice the entire progression using downstrokes only, counting out loud to help improve your timing.
This song uses one of the most common strumming patterns ever as well and it's very simple to learn. We break it down, count it out and then we play it over each shape and then with our chord progression.
At this point, we need to make a couple changes to the strumming pattern on the E minor and C chords. We go over it step by step counting it out and getting the rhythm perfect before we play our chord progression with the exact rhythm used in the song recording.
All that's left to learn is the chorus which is very simple. It uses one more chord shape: Am. We go from Am to C, and add our strumming pattern - that's it!
Finally, we talk about putting the entire song together. And this one is basically a simple four chord song combined with an easy two chord song for the chorus. It's like the two simplest chord progressions you could ever play on guitar. We figure out how many times we play it for, and we talk about the original recording and how you can play along with that to improve all your skills.
If you'd like to practice the entire song with me, there's a full playthrough available on my Patreon page, where I play through the entire song, start to finish. More information on that here: [ Ссылка ]
