The late Sir David Frost interviewed Connie Francis for his shows on three occasions — February 1970, September 1971 and in 1996. In this VHS to digital transfer of their first interview, one can see and almost feel the immediate rapport between them.
From Sir David's opening comments, it would seem that her appearance had been scheduled as a promotional tie-in with the release of her album 'Connie Francis Sings the Songs of Les Reed'. However, Connie ended her 15-year association with MGM Records just 5-6 weeks prior to the show's broadcast and, instead of singing any selections from her final album for the label, performed the Tom Jones hit "Help Yourself" and Petula Clark's "This Is My Song".
Although vocally Connie was suffering the after effects of a cold, this recording certainly highlights why she is considered an interviewer's dream subject!
