(14 Nov 2013) CHANG CHEN MARRIES GIRLFRIEND
"The Grandmaster" star Chang Chen has announced his marriage to longtime girlfriend Chuang Wen-Ju.
The 37 year old actor took to his weibo (blog) to share the good news with fans. He posted a photo of the bride and wrote "Want to share with everyone our happiness. We got married!"
According to Taiwan media reports, Chang and Chuang registered their marriage in Taipei on Tuesday November 12th. The newlyweds celebrated their matrimony with close family and friends that night with a dinner.
Chang is planning a bigger celebration next Monday November 18th in Taipei.
The second son of Taiwanese veteran actor Chang Kuo Chu, Chang Chen began acting at a young age. At 15, his breakout role came in "A Brighter Summer Day" directed by the late Taiwanese director Edward Yang. Chang played a teenager who was sentenced to death for murdering his girlfriend.
The movie industry took notice of his talent, and since then, Chang has worked with some of Chinese cinema's most influential directors like Ang Lee, John Woo and Wong Kar Wai. He starred opposite Zhang Ziyi in Ang Lee's martial arts epic film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." Most recently he played a martial arts master in Wong's "The Grandmaster."
Chang met his wife when she worked for his management company as an assistant. They've been dating for four years and Chang reportedly proposed for marriage in January this year.
Just a few days ahead of the 50th Annual Golden Horse Awards in Taipei, Chang's wedding celebration is guaranteed to be a start studded bash.
The guests lists include directors Ang Lee, Wong Kar Wai, Hou Hsiao Hsien and A list co-stars Tony Leung, and Shu Qi.
