Today we begin our morning chores at the sheep barn and are greeted with a beautiful set of triplets. The sheep continue to lamb daily and the need for a family pen has arrived.
The lambs are painted and tagged while in the jugs.
We are keeping the ewe and lambs in the jugs for a minimum of 24 hours then relocating to the family pen.
Reason being is to make room for the next ewe that lambs.
If we can keep them in the jugs for 48 hours then we do. This allows for a good amount of time for them to bond with one another.
The family pen is being set up in stages to ensure we have adequate barn space for the ewes that have yet to lambing. As the group gets larger then the family pen will be easily altered as needed.
