Dr. Barbara Konkle of the University of Washington presents an update on heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT). A current review of the pathogenesis of HIT is presented, including approaches to the identification of patients at greatest risk. She also reviews current laboratory testing, the clinical course of patients diagnosed, and approaches to the treatment of HIT.
