'When All Thy Mercies, O My God' was written by Joseph Addison and published in the 'Spectator' on Saturday, 9th August 1712. It has also been attributed to Andrew Marvell and Richard Richmond but the evidence for these claims seems flimsy.
The tune is 'Contemplation' was written by Rev Frederick A. Gore Ouseley, professor of music at Oxford University, in 1889.
It is performed here by the choir of Guildford Cathedral.
