Three reasons not to buy the Hero Karizma XMR. First, the engine. This is a rather strange engine, it must be said. It does almost nothing below 6,000rpm and then is pretty sweet between 7,000rpm and 9,5000rpm. There is always some buzz somewhere and it feels like you have to work pretty hard to extract the Karisma's performance. The engine -- take a test ride -- is the hardest thing to accept on the XMR. Second, the quality. While it looks great, looking closer reveals both cost-cutting and indifferent quality control on the XMR. This ranges from plastics that feel cheap to the touch, paint finish issues, aluminium parts corroding as well as, in places rust. The finish on the trellis frame is patchy too... the closer you get, the messier it looks. Third, comfort. It's a sportsbike, so we weren't expecting a super comfortable motorcycle but while the front does a commendable job of absorbing bumps, the rear, especially on imperfect roads, passes on hits to the rider.
