Chromatin is a deoxyribonucleoprotein complex divisible into two types;
1) Euchromatin: stains light, is transcriptionally active and dispersed throughout the nucleus.
2) Heterochromatin: stains darkly, transcriptionally inactive and situated near the nuclear membrane and nucleolus.
