My wife and I invested in two Stacyc bikes for both our boys in the fall of 2020. This cost us about $1500 total in the end, but we first bought the 12e for my freshly turned 3-year old Kallen. After seeing what the bike was all about and how much fun he had on it, we knew our son Rennen - who is an accomplished PW50 rider already - would absolutely love having the 16e for his birthday a month later. Considering he spent almost every day since he was 18-months old on a balance bike, we KNEW he'd love a balance bike with a motor on it! Fast forward a month later and we delivered the 16e to Rennen on his birthday.
We figured the 16e would be as reliable - if not MORE reliable with the brushless motor - than the 12e would be, but we were also giving it to an absolute monster when it comes to being hard on equipment! As you'll see in my other videos, we started having issues with the 16e immediately and it was very disappointing to have spent $800+ on this bike and experience problems with it right away. I cover these in other videos, and am a bit bitter on the issues we've had not only because we've spent a lot of money on these bikes, but more than anything, because I'm a parent that wants my kids to have fun, and explaining to them why something that is so fun doesn't work so good, is not fun! I'm just hoping that some of these issues get resolved and Stacyc revises or builds a more reliable product going forward.
