Clare is a small town on the Suffolk/Essex Border close to the towns of Sudbury, Haverhill and Bury St Edmunds. In the centre of town is a lovely parish church which is overlooked by the impressive Castle Earthworks and Ruins set within a country park. Clare Country Park have developed a series of walks around the small town taking in many of its historic and natural features.
Walk 1 Explores a short section of the Stour Valley Path before visiting Erbury, a massive earthwork of unknown date but possible Iron Age. Countryside to the west of the town is then explored before following a short section of the old railway back to the country park.
