In the aftermath of Hurricane Georges destruction on the Dominican Republic, the people of the island were starting to rebuild their lives on Thursday (24/09). In only two hours, the winds of Hurricane Georges tore apart the tiny chapel that dirt-poor villagers took six years to piece together from wood and corrugated metal. All the streets and all the shacks in the Dr. Mato neighbourhood were knee-deep in water Wednesday, a day after Hurricane Georges plowed through the Dominican Republic.
