As I have said on a number of occasions, many music hall songs have well known choruses, but less memorable verses. "Maybe It's Because I'm A Londoner" is a prime example of this.
The site I am working through has the lyrics including two verses, but it took a lot of searching on YouTube to find a version that included more than the chorus.
I did find one sung by Rupert Davies, a British actor best remembered for playing the title role in the BBC's 1960s television adaptation of Maigret, based on Georges Simenon's Maigret novels. Even his version only included one verse.
So I have done my own version including the two verses I found and my own chord progression for the song.
The song was written and composed by Hubert Gregg a BBC broadcaster, writer and stage actor.
Some of the chords I am using are not so familiar to me. The following are the way I am playing them:
A6 = 002222; Gdim = xxx323; G9 = xx0201; Ddim = xx232x; D9 = xxx210; (at least this is what I am playing though they may not be named correctly!!!)
