Our visit to Calpe a coastal town located in the province of Alicante, Spain - approx 1 hour from Alicante Airport, includes photos and clips of HR Diamante Beach hotel, beautiful coastal views, I sat on the remains of a Roman Spa by the sea, Train to Old Town and views of its small picturesque cobbled streets, the decorated stairs. Lovely sandy beaches, clear waters, its an eco-friendliest tourist destination. There are Roman buildings, Torreó de la Peça - a defensive tower that was constructed to protect Calpe from pirates during the 15th century. The wall features 2 cannons dating back to the 14th century. Parroquia Ntra. Sra. de las Nieves church, and the Peñón de Ifach huge limestone rock that stands 332 metres above sea level, The salinas (Spanish for salt flats) developed into an area with an extremely varied flora and fauna with flocks of migratory birds - the beautiful and elegant pink flamingos - Saldines de Calpe, Yellow-legged Gulls on the beach and more. The train was very busy, best to have a Taxi number handy just incase your not able to get on. Taxi service was plentyfull or check out the buses.
