I wanna share my story of creating this female version with you:
I always loved the track 'Sober Thoughts' by GoldLink -
One day I was super motivated to sing along with him so I started repeating the first verse over and over again, after approx. 1/2 hour I was able to rap the first verse. :) That's when I started changing the lyrics into a female version so I could emphatize better and make the song my own. It all came really easy. One of this perfect creative moments, you feel like floating. Especially changing the lyrics from: "Eastside till I motherf***ing die, Westside get the love when I get high" to "Making music till I motherf***ing die, Plan B get the love when I get dry" and "Been thinking about getting this tatt all on my face, who gives a fuck, nobody get to see it anyway" to "Been thinking about getting this tatt all on my flower..."
After that I started thinking about really recording it. I told a friend about my idea and said that it would be perfect recording my cover on a new beat. This friend told me that she had a producer friend making Kaytranada inspired beats. We met and I told him what I was looking for and happenstantially (I don't believe in coincidences :)) he had already made a beat inspired by Sober Thoughts. I was so happy, I couldn't have better!
So we went to the studio together, recorded it, had mad fun and this is the result!
I also wanna tell you the story behind my artwork cover: Since this cover beeing my first cover ever (because of the record being my first record ever) I don't know how the usual process of creating a cover artwork is, although I don't think that there is any usual process. Either way creating this cover was a magical process. I didn't have a concept in the beginning, the only thing I started with was the wish to have a nice cover for my first record, that I was going to share with you. Seconds after I had this vision, I saw the cover in my mind's eye - female body outlines, beige color in the back and a blue flower symbolizing a tattoo and in its deeper meaning the power center of women. Discovering that this image perfectly embodied the first line of the second verse "been thinking about getting this tatt all on my flower" made this creative process so magical for me. I wasn't even thinking about it too hard, it just came so easily - everything just flowed. The highlight was that my close friend Valentina Schupke - a talented woman! (it's all about woman power in this song) - realized my vision so beautifully and quickly. She was inspired by the track and also designed artwork for my YouTube Channel, Facebook, Twitter, Soundcloud and Instagram.
I wanted to share this experience with you because it was such a beautiful and perfect creative moment for me. Creating a track can be so much more than just the music, after you have created the music there are many more vehicles you can use to express yourself and to spread your message.
Long story short... I hope you like my female version!
