Marigold care tip
Marigolds are a popular and easy-to-grow annual flower that can add vibrant color to your garden. Here are some tips for caring for marigolds:
Planting: Marigolds prefer well-drained soil and full sun exposure. They can be planted from seed or as seedlings, and should be spaced about 8-10 inches apart.
Watering: Water marigolds regularly, especially during hot and dry weather. Avoid getting water on the foliage, as this can promote fungal growth.
Fertilizing: Marigolds are relatively low-maintenance and do not require heavy fertilization. A light application of fertilizer at planting time and again halfway through the growing season should be sufficient.
Deadheading: To encourage continued blooming, remove spent flowers by pinching or cutting off the dead blooms.
Pest and disease control: Marigolds are generally resistant to pests and diseases, but can occasionally be affected by spider mites or aphids. If necessary, treat with a mild insecticide or soap spray.
Harvesting: Marigold flowers can be harvested when fully open and at their peak of color. Use clean, sharp scissors to cut the stems just above a leaf node, and avoid harvesting more than one-third of the plant at a time.
