Fatty Liver | How to diagnose? What is the treatment? Is it dangerous? | Dr Mashhood Qazi

Fatty liver has a high incidence in general population. Approximately 20% of world population is thought to have fatty liver. It is an important cause of liver failure, liver cancer and requiring liver transplantation if remained untreated.

Most of the patients who have fatty liver do not demonstrate any symptoms. It is mostly found incidentally.

Main causes of fatty liver include alcohol, obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol, lack of exercise, hepatitis B and C infections.

Treatment includes reducing sugar content in diet, taking low cholesterol in diet, regular exercise and taking vitamin D supplements.
