Toyota’s top-selling model has received a mild-hybrid boost for 2024, but is its new V-Active 48V system worthwhile? 👉 Full Review: [ Ссылка ]
The 2024 Toyota HiLux update might seem a bit blink-and-you’ll-miss-it on the surface.
But go beyond the tweaked grille and bumpers and you’ll find a new 48-volt electrical assist system called V-Active Technology fitted to its long-running 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine.
Designed to provide both performance and fuel consumption improvements, the mild-hybrid system comes standard with the HiLux SR5 4x4 dual-cab auto on test here, for only a moderate price bump over the model it replaces.
In terms of the level of electrification coming to the market with the BYD Shark and Ford Ranger plug-in hybrids and other utes in the future, this is only a small step into the future.
But it is a step and it does improve the driving experience of Australia’s second most popular ute.
