Ru is one of the 5 novels competing in the finals of CBC Canada Reads 2015 - one book to break barriers. Written by Kim Thúy, it traces the journey of a girl who is ousted from her affluent home in Saigon, and travels by boat to an overcrowded Malaysian refugee camp, before finally settling in Quebec.
