Drs. James McDeavitt, Matthew Ellis and Bora Lim, join together for the June, On the Frontline
event, and share Baylor’s innovative approach to breast cancer, which entails investigating the complexity of cancer’s genetic underpinnings.
By looking at cancer as a complex illness with multiple triggers, precision medicine will move us beyond traditional medicine that is focused on reacting to the clinical presentation of symptoms. Baylor is leading the charge in a new era in which healthcare aims to understand and address the biological mechanisms driving a patient’s ailment and the environmental and lifestyle factors influencing its presentation. This will result in more effective patient-tailored treatments that improve health outcomes and diminish side effects.
