This generation Mustang is known as the "Fox Body" generation, running from 1979-1993 and sharing its chassis with other vehicles from the time. This was one of the two times in history the Mustang had a rebadged cousin, in the form of the 1979-1986 Mercury Capri. Every few model years had some minor changes, but the biggest refresh was the 1987 model year, completely overhauling the looks of the front end and interior.
A breakdown of the model years:
1979-82 - First model years, all noted for quad headlights and vertical tail lights
1983-86 - Some updated styling, revised horizontal tail lights
1987-90 - Elimination of quad headlights, all-new interior
1990-93 - New wheel choices, driver side airbag, 140 mph speedometer
