Someday, I'll probably make a "Director's Cut" version of this flight, which will be at least twice as long without much sped-up footage. My first helicopter ride was just gorgeous, staggering me repeatedly with the beauty of the Salish Sea and the world placed at its shores. I totally geeked out, filming almost the entire ride.
It's a little weird now to have wanted to do something for so many years (literally decades, actually) and finally granting my own wish. I guess I could have done it a while ago, but it always seemed this far-off dream. Helijet [[ Ссылка ]], if you time buying your ticket correctly, isn't that much more expensive than Harbour Air, which does this same basic route in floatplanes, and either is worth every penny.
Naturally, I did a bit of research on Sikorsky Aircraft's founder Igor Sikorsky. If you're interested, there is a great website available online, at [ Ссылка ]. His life and what he accomplished are fascinating, truly.
When I say that I spent years dreaming of that flight and admiring the rotor wash on Burrard Inlet as those helicopters would land and depart, I mean that. The ripples radiating outward take on an infinite number of patterns depending on the weather and water conditions, all of them beautiful to me. Enjoy!
