There are thousands of people who lost their homes and businesses, or sustained major damage during Hurricane Harvey.
One month after the storm, the emotional toll is catching up with them.
Local psychiatrists say they've seen a significant increase in patients with severe anxiety or worsening depression since Harvey made landfall back on August 25th.
Dr. John Lusins says these thoughts and worries could pose a serious threat if not treated properly.
"We're about a month out of this, and typically when you look at greater than two weeks of thoughts of worthlessness and hopelessness, your motivation is gone," Dr. Lusins said.
He has treated a number of patients from the areas hit hardest by Harvey, such as Rockport, Port Aransas and Aransas Pass.
