What is the diffenerce in sound between a Precision bass and a Jazz bass? This is part 2 in my sound comparison between the Precision and the jazz bass. In this video I play the the two bass models in a couple of blues tracks to illustrate how they sound and what differs between them. The P bass is a Japan made Fender Precision 1957 reissue and the J is a 1978 Fender Jazz Bass. Both basses have their stock pickups and the tone control fully on. The strings are D'Addario nickel roundwounds 045-105 on both basses. They were recorded straight in to a Focusrite audio interface and you hear them without any EQ added. I panned the bass all the way to the right and the backing track to the left to make it possible to listen to only the bass. And as always, listen through something better than your computers built-in speakers (or the phone speakers...).
