[ Ссылка ] [ Ссылка ] Do motorbike riders deserve better? Are we being dished up dodgy products and treated like second class citizens? Are we seen by society as filthy reprobates? Well hell yeah! Biggest bunch of reprobates I've ever seen. Should we only expect mediocre quality when it comes to our helmets, boots and riding gear? I don't think so. So often we have seen a small brand that is passionate about motorbike riding produce a great range of products. The responses to our articles and videos has been very interesting. A surprising number of riders say "Why bother complaining? t's an expensive sport, and this is just another expense." Others thought we were being too harsh on the manufacturers, and that getting two years out of a helmet before it fails is a reasonable timeline. Extreme enduro has taken off internationally the past few years, in part due to the fascination we have with the incredible bike control the top extreme enduro riders have. Others say "Why bother complaining at all as it's not going to achieve a thing." He caused such a stir that General Motors illegally tapped his phone, had him followed and hired prostitutes to try and catch him in a compromising situation. Maybe it's time we had a similar movement in the motorbike world. Should we demand better quality and safety from motorbike gear? A common theme that stands out for almost every top extreme enduro rider is they are former expert trials riders, and cut their teeth on extremely challenging terrain and ultra light weight bikes. In fact, most of these guys will say the key to learning to ride fast is first slow down and get your fundamental techniques right. But once successful they are often bought out by larger businesses who are driven far more by profit instead of quality or our safety. In some cases they become multinational umbrella corporations where the motorbike products are just a tiny sideline of their overall business model. This seems to be the point in time when quality and safety are rarely given another thought. Lately we've been highlighting safety concerns of riding gear. Some brands are claiming that their knee guards are 'knee braces'. And some of the more expensive helmet brands have had primary brackets that easily rust - sometimes to the point of failure. Or should we just accept things they way they are? Let us know what you think. We were intrigued by these responses. The public has a pretty poor perception of motorcycle riders, especially offroad riders. Has this attitude infected us? Do we honestly think we don't deserve any better? Or are we simply just apathetic? Now you might think this is a particularly stupid thing to do for a bunch of average riders already in their 50s. And you would be right. But we have very small brains so first we bought trials bikes to relearn the fundamentals of bike control at a local trials club, then started applying the same techniques to our dirt bikes. We just accept that certain manufacturers can save a few cents on each product by using inferior manufacturing methods that don't meet any required standards. Some of you may remember Ralph Nader. In the 1960s the safety record of the automobile industry in the USA was shocking, and Ralph set about highlighting all the problems and calling for reform.
